Hubbard handspun is mostly about handspinning wool that I raise on our ranch in Oregon. We have sheep and cattle, one horse, two livestock guardian dogs, two cats and a bunch border collies. The animals are our life and our livelihood.

I started spinning 23 years ago when my daughter was born and I found myself housebound. Over the years I learned to grow the type of wool I wanted for myself. Until you sit down and spend a few days preparing a fleece for spinning you just don't get it.

In June our fleeces won the Black Sheep Gathering cup for the best five handspinning fleeces! This year there were 500 fleeces entered, so winning this award was a huge honor, a lovely affirmation.
