in the seam owner Ronda J Smith was born outside of Detroit, MI and made her way to Brooklyn via Miami. She graduated with a photography degree from the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale in 2001. With a love for sewing Ronda combined her photography and design talents to create pillows. The inspiration came while photographing her cat Keywan doing what he does best…taking a cat nap. A pillow was created and in 2010 in the seam was officially launched. “Everything I look at I want to photograph and make into a pillow. Custom pillows are a big hit with pet owners, and manhole covers are one of my best sellers. I’m always trying to plan a trip to photograph the streets and get more of a variety to offer.” says Ronda.
