Who would have thought that cancer would end up being the catalyst for a blockmaking business? Not me that's for sure, but that is exactly what happened. My daughter was diagnosed this past year with colon cancer at the age of 19 (exceptionally rare at that age...she was the youngest ever at the hospital where she was treated).
Her diagnosis spurred me to start a Relay for Life team at the school where I work. As a fundraiser for Relay for Life, we held a silent auction and I wanted to make something to put in it to raise money. So I made blocks. A set of cute summer blocks that I worked up from wood we had around the house and all my card making/scrapbooking items. I posted them on facebook and immediately people responded.
