Jemima Lumley's Profile
After almost 20 years as a designer in children's publishing, a short silversmithing course prompted a change of direction. The following year I enrolled on a part-time jewellery course, and found a local studio where I could make and sell my work.
Together with five other crafts people in 2010 I found a space to rent on our busy local high street. Here we have facilities to create our screen prints, textiles, glass work and jewellery and three days a week we open as a shop.
My often whimsical style stems, in part, from my previous career. Rob Ryan's papercuts, Tord Bootje's lampshades, Lucienne Day's wallpaper and the repeated patterns of the Arts and Crafts movement fill many of the pages of my sketch book.
