About
Born and raised in western Canada, I moved here about 14 years ago, a single mom of five children. A high school drop-out, I got both my degree and Masters degree (which I never did use) as a non-traditional student. I started a shop called Tantrums Wearable Art in the historic arts district, created the Purple Fiddle Coffeehouse, a successful cafe and traditional music venue, sold it and now sew full time. My work can be found in many galleries in Virginia and West Virginia. I have changed careers and renovated old houses more times than can be counted-always looking to a new adventure.
I have been sewing and creating new things out of scraps of nothing since I was a child.I bought my first Kenmore when I was eight and have graduated to four Bernina machines and several sergers, including my $5000 babylock <3, mostly because I hate to be slowed down by changing thread. jerseys and knits of all kinds for my dressmaking, fine ethnic silks and batiks for my own art, wool, linen, corduroy, cotton, beads, vintage, recycled, junk from attics, sheds, and found items in the woods for my creative binges
