About

My name is Akiko. I have been making things since I was a little girl as my mother has been an avid creator. I've started to show and sell my handmade things on my website in Japan (currently I'm making my site in English where you can see my various work). Originally I am a doll artist (of animals) and I've been doing it as my main work for many years. At the same time, I love to make various things using leather and other material, as I really love to mix various things with various technique. Especially I love to make small things. I started to learn leather craft seriously about 6 years ago. At first I had been using leather only as a part of my doll making, but I also wanted to make something that people can use directly. I really enjoy to make things which make someone say "where did you get it?" And I feel very happy if my handmade items make someone smile:))

The reason I joined Etsy is that I love international things (people, culture, language, music, food, fashion...etc) very much. I love cultural exchange things so much. It's very fun & interesting to see other artists/creator's handmade items or works with their national charactor.
I have been in London for 2.5 years and I shared a house with 4 people (2 Itallian, English, Egyptian), and my best friend at that time was a Slovakian and an American. It was fabulous experience for me as everyday and everything around me was different and stimulative. But now, as far as my surroundings in Japan, I don't have many chance to meet foreign friends, different culture or thoughts, and handmade. I think it's really interesting and inspiring to see wonderful works by various artists whose backgrounds are totally different from mine.
And so I thought Etsy is just the place where I'm longing for.
I wish my handmade could be one of peaceful bridges connecting to other countries!!
