'"We are all going on an Expedition," said Christopher Robin, as he got up and brushed himself. "Thank you, Pooh."
"Going on an Expotition?" said Pooh eagerly. "I don't think I've ever been on one of those. Where are we going to on this Expotition?"
"Expedition, silly old Bear. It's got an 'x' in it."
"Oh!" said Pooh. "I know." But he didn't really. . . .'

We have a very busy family. School, work, babies, teenagers . . . When was I going to carve out the time to start Etsy shops? Well, late at night, of course, when all was quiet.

As I sat up one night with the window open, an owl called in the woods in the distance. Thus . . . Owl Song Vintage.

We are a family of artists, so I hope we "see" with an artist's eye. The little details - the juxtaposition of colors - the whimsical - the hidden importance of a piece.

And we are a family of readers. History sits on our shoulders, informing the conversations, as we talk in the evenings. So we will write lots about our listings. If there is research to do, we will try to do it. Vintage pieces are more than things, they tell enduring histories. That is their charm.

I love lines. I love workmanship. The beauty in an industrial piece is as important to me as a piece of exquisite porcelain. I adore missions furniture for it clean lines and solid construction and understated imagination. I love it for the same reason I love mid century pieces with their sleek, terse forms. And then I also love the carved, ornate Victorian furniture for the untold hours of craftsmanship. All these things will appear here from time to time. So stop in for a surprise!

Welcome!

* A Little Note About the Etsy Experience

For those new to Etsy, the shopping/selling here can become very warm and personal. It is more than clicking "Add to Cart." Notes and conversations are exchanged. You as a buyer have the chance to tell the seller why you love a piece. (It may have belonged to your grandmother.) When you leave feedback after receiving an item, Etsy even gives you a place to post a picture of how you have used it.

Etsy is as close as you can get in the Virtual Marketplace to the real world of the small shop owner and his clientele.

For those new to selling on Etsy, the site is driven by camaraderie. The treasuries you may notice are made by shop owners advertising one another. Etsy shop owners participate in teams which provide support for sales and marketing. But these teams also become support groups with people concurrently celebrating one another's successes and mourning one another's personal tragedies.

It is Main Street - gone global. Join us!
