Mary Jo Stephenson's Profile
I find great joy in rescuing old furniture , lamps, kitchen items and other found treasures and turning them into functional art (emphasis on “fun”) and I really like keeping things out of the landfill!
I am inspired by the bright colorful illustrations in children’s books, by outsider artists who know no bounds and by tribal and aboriginal art. I love combining color, pattern and texture. All paints are water-based and eco-friendly. For furniture, I coat each piece about six times with water-based polyurethane for durability. I can custom paint any piece with names and favorite themes.
I make birdfeeders, garden art and lights made of recycled lamp parts and other found items. I paint them with water-based enamel that is baked on for a very durable finish.
