Hello! My name is Charley Cohen. I am a professional ballerina by day but decided to open Modern Rubbish in 2010 after flipping through the journals of my youth; I was inspired to turn my melodramatic rants and bad poetry into cards. Call me old fashioned, but I have a softness in my heart for the handwritten note.
I asked my longtime boyfriend and artist, Peter Dimick to illustrate the cards. His artwork shown at San Francisco's Hang Art Gallery is loud, eclectic and pure awesome. At first, Pete was lukewarm to the idea of strange, albeit morbid greeting cards but the initial sketches were too funny to be ignored and Modern Rubbish took flight.
