Morgan Ralston was born into an artistic family in Toronto, Ontario. His father was an artist, and his grandfather studied under A.J. Casson, of the Group of Seven. His love of art has been evident since his first drawings at the age of three. He took up painting while attending Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario, and now lives and paints in Vancouver. His work still graces the walls of Cambrian College, and can now be seen in personal collections across the globe.
After taking a long break from painting I'm back in full swing and will be adding new art to my shop every week or two, as well as offering new giclee prints frequently.
My Philosophy:
I take my time with a piece of art. I never rush, I am dedicated to meticulously painting an image until I feel it is 100% complete. At the same time I can be quite impulsive with my brush work and colours. Needless to say, If I don't love a painting I'm working on, then it's not done! Sometimes my process take years, often it takes months, even the 5" x 7", especially those!
I like to paint things that will bring a smile to my face once completed. That way I'm sure the image will do the same for others and I like my viewers to walk away happy. I've found some have a hard time leaving, they have to stop and stare. A deeply positive impact on the viewer is my goal. I feel I've captured that with each piece I've created.
My inspiration comes from everything. Everything is an influence on how I paint a new piece whether negative or positive. To limit myself to one specific source can't be done. I just can't close off the tap. Wherever I am I'm most certainly being silently inspired by something. However, I do gather inspiration and do much of my painting on rainy days! Something about the smells, sights and sounds that open up me up to my creativity.
