I am an artist and printmaker with a passion for intaglio printmaking. Intaglio is a method of incising an image onto a metal plate (zinc or copper) and manipulating the surface through various techniques. My personal favorites are drypoint (a carbide-tip tool used to scratch and carve the surface of the plate) and aquatint (a magical process involving ground tree rosin, a big wooden box used to create a rosin dust storm, a hot plate, many painstaking dips in an acid bath while stopping-out various part of the plate to protect them from the acid, resulting in an endless variation of shades and tones). I also love and depend on my collection of roulette wheels, with various dots-per-inch which can be pressed into and rolled over the plate for subtle patterns and seductive textures.
