Myko Bocek's Profile

About

Hello, my name is Myko (pronouned Mike-O)! I am half Japanese and grew up on a small rural farm in Delaware. Influenced by my eclectic upbringing my work reflects my love of vintage and cute. When I was little my Japanese relatives sent the cutest Japanese toys, dolls, and stuffed animals all of which I adored. My father loved going to flea markets and barn auctions and so I developed my own eye for beautiful "junk". Because of my love for vintage, I try to incorporate it as much as possible into my pieces. I use eco friendly materials such as wool yarn and wool felt which is sustainable. :) I love to hunt antique shops and flea markets for neat interesting findings to incorporate into my work. I meticulously hand sculpt and shape the pom poms from wool yarn, wool felt, and wool roving (reminiscent of vintage Steiff pom pom animals, which I just love!). I like to use the finest materials vintage or new I can find available...

A bit about myself; I sculpt, draw, and love to create and have done so since I was a small child. Art has always been part of my life. I briefly attended the Art Institue of Portland in Graphic Design but consider myself a self taught artist. I'm a mom of four wonderful children.

I have been featured in;
