As a small town Southern girl and true to my heritage, I am a hunter and gatherer of all things old, vintage, antique, rusty, discarded, set aside, forgotten, worn, played with and loved. In the past few years, I have become fascinated with Midcentury furniture and other items and am slowly trying to incorporate these into my home.

A childhood memory helps to explain my interest: When I was about 10 years old, our family moved into a creepy old house in northern Louisiana with a ramshackle shed in the back yard--just ripe for rummaging! Among the usual assortment of rusted farm equipment and other "shed" items sat an ancient trunk. I spent many happy hours sorting through and digesting its treasures--sewing patterns from the 1930s, a letter opener from the 1939 Chicago Worlds Fair (which I still have), old love letters, papers and photos--bits and pieces of someone's journey through this life. I think even then I recognized just how incredibly special these things were. I believe as we go through life, we are all merely borrowing and exchanging "stuff" which in many cases serve as tangible reminders of simpler or happier times in our lives.
