Paloma's Nest LLC is the creative work of husband and wife team Caroline Colom Vasquez and Jose Vasquez-Corbalan.
Paloma's Nest is dedicated to creating pieces for the home and for the heart. These pieces are intended to become modern heirlooms, to be cherished by you and for many future generations to come.
Each and every piece in the Paloma's Nest collection is designed and hand-crafted in our studio in Austin, Texas, with care, pride, and passion. We use only all natural materials including fine clays, wood, paper, and cloth, knowing that these items will be passed on for many generations. Caroline's passion is clay, and Jose brings his talents in woodworking to the mix: together the pair creates the perfect marriage of materials. Every detail, from crafting raw materials to final product finishing, gift wrapping, packing, processing of your order for shipment, and in replying to inquiries, is done by us personally- always offering you the best customer service possible. We have a fun and vibrant studio, committed to creating quality, timeless designs.
The inspiration for Paloma's Nest lies in the purity of the materials used, and the idea that something so simple can be so bold.
By adding text, we give written ideas, feelings, and daydreams a place to rest.
OUR WORK
*All ceramic items are crafted from either white earthenware clay or porcelain clay. Ceramic pieces designed for DECORATIVE USE ONLY- meaning you shouldn't eat off them as they could stain. All of our bowls can certainly be used to hold jewelry, treasures and other items, so we encourage you to make them part of your daily life. Most of our ceramics are NOT "glazed" with a traditional ceramic glaze, but they ARE finished and sealed in our proprietary surface treatment to give the pieces a subtle sheen, and to prevent the pieces from becoming easily soiled by fingerprints and such. We do this because we love the natural tactile feeling of the pure clay and porcelain, and try to preserve that as an integral part of each piece. Once you touch one, you will understand!
Our Sweets Plates ARE glazed with a food-safe, semi-matte glaze and are intended to be enjoyed with food.
*We use the finest quality clays, woods, and fibers available to achieve the purest surface and color possible. Being the natural materials that clay and wood are, pieces may occasionally contain flecks or small specks which may be visible on your piece. These tiny dots or color variations should be considered a natural charm of the handmade piece, and not at all a defect.*
*Every item and every custom phrase is hand stamped, one tiny letter at a time. We pride ourselves in excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail- but you will indeed see the human hand in our work. Your stamped text may not be as precise as a computer-created design made with a laser cutter; your bowl may not be as round as a die-cut machine. But we wouldn't want it to be that way.
The studio is powered 100% by Renewable Wind Energy. That means when the wind is a-blowin' out in West Texas, the little kiln is a-firin' here in Austin.
Paloma's Nest uses recycled, up-cycled, and biodegradable products in our pieces and packaging whenever possible. Please recycle or reuse the packaging your order arrives in.
We are honored to create a special piece for your wedding or other special life event. Our designs are innovative, original and intended to become Modern Heirlooms.
