I remember as a little girl visiting my grandparents in Miami Beach, Florida, and never finding it comfortable to sit in the backseat of my grandfather’s car. But oh boy, was it fun!
My Zayda was an upholsterer, and I would play with all his textile books that were piled high in the back seat. My imagination went wild loving all the different textures and colors. And you should see the collection of sample books I have in my studio now!
I attribute those years to shaping my first artistic endeavor—fiber arts. In 1996 a kimono that I made out of jute was curated into the Washington, DC Textile Museum show on "The Kimono Inspiration."
