I play fair. My beads are all purchased fair trade. This means that the artisans who make these beautiful beads are paid a fair wage.
Most of the textiles that I use are reclaimed or organic. I like to use hemp, too, because it is tough stuff and requires little to no pest management!
A little note on tagua. You will see alot of tagua in my jewelry. Tagua nuts grow on a palm in the South American Rain Forest. The nut is so similar to elephant ivory that it has been called vegetable ivory. Using vegetable ivory in jewelry creates a demand for more. This in turn generates jobs in South America. It also makes the palms an economic resource thus sustaining parts of the rain forest where they grow. And, if we really needed another reason, wearing...
