Toys are in my blood! When I was really little, I dreamed of designing new Strawberry Shortcake doll characters...who wouldn't want a doll named Honey Dew Melon? Or Dewberry? :) I also drew ridiculous children's books about a broken doll and played "craft show" in the laundry room. I'd like to think I've come full circle, back to my first love - handmade toys.

I come from a long line of artists, builders, and makers. In fact, my handmade toy business is named after my family's construction company.

I recently visited my parents' home and was surprised to find a forgotten cache of handmade vintage rag dolls that I must have played with when I was little. I recently visited my parents' home and was surprised to find a forgotten cache of handmade vintage rag dolls that I must have played with when I was little. I had forgotten all about them, but somehow my love of handcrafted rag dolls had lingered. When I finally made my first rag doll, it was like magic. It came out perfectly the first time and I've been using the same pattern ever since.

All of my plushies and rag dolls are made by me from scratch. I sketch the designs, turn them into patterns, and then create them in my home studio in the eye of the hurricane that is my six year old son. I have more ideas than I have time (I work and attend a university where I am studying to be a teacher) but I still manage to get some new designs in my Etsy shop. Some of them get sold locally and at craft fairs before they make it to the listing stage :)
