I grew up on a farm in Virginia. The sense of nature informing everything was the basis of my childhood – the weather, the fields, the slow sense of dawn. All of these aspects are part of my art. I use traditional Japanese dyeing methods to ensure permanency and richness of color – the method itself is time consuming and inexact, which reflects my experience of nature.
