Hello and welcome to my shop! My name is Zhenya, and most things listed here are made by me, although occasionally I have some items by my teen daughter, so I guess this makes it a family shop.

Me, I love snippets! Small pieces of fabric, yarn, ribbon, stray beads and sequins, a little bit of everything, a jumble of colors and textures.... It's a wonderful feeling when something beautiful and useful is born from this colorful chaos.

I make my own patterns. Sometimes I use no pattern at all, but a free-hand improvisation on a theme. This means that most things I make are one of a kind, and some take many hours...

This means that most things I make are one of a kind, and some take many hours to complete.

My work reflects my love of the old fashioned, homespun, and personal. It also often echoes my cultural and family background (my Russian grandmother was the original Snippet Fairy, creating treasures that took your breath away in a time and place of extreme shortages in funds and materials -- she is my inspiration, and the source of much of what I know about fiber crafts).

I construct my pieces with care, both by hand and with a sewing machine. I believe in recycling, reusing, and minimal waste, so many of my projects use reclaimed material or leftover scraps and pieces. It makes me happy to produce something lovely out of what many people would toss into the landfill without another thought. It does take longer to make things this way, but I believe it's worth the time and effort. I also try to reuse packaging whenever possible.

My daughter is 14 years old, and I'm very pleased to support her own creative process. I have enjoyed teaching her what I know about art and fiber crafts, but she has a distinctive style all her own! I label her work with "Snippetfairy Junior", to make it easier for visitors to distinguish it from my own work.

We live and work in a smoke free and pet free space.
