About

My name is Rachel and I'm a Brooklyn girl who is the creator and chef of Soapwalla Kitchen. I started making luxury organic face and body products in my apartment kitchen to alleviate my painful sensitive skin rashes caused by lupus, an autoimmune illness.

When I started Soapwalla, my objective was to make the highest quality products available, made with organic, vegan, food-grade ingredients, and never harmful or synthetic additives such as petrochemicals, parabens, pthalates, or sodium lauryl sulfate. Our skin is our largest organ and in order for it to function at its best we must feed it with wholesome ingredients. If I refuse to put something in my body, I shouldn't be putting it *on* my body, either.

I use natural oils, clays, powders, botanicals, and essential oils. Everything is made by hand in small batches (in my apartment kitchen - I'm always borrowing ingredients from my spice jars, refrigerator, and shelves) to ensure quality, freshness and the utmost attention to detail. Soapwalla gift bags are the ideal gift for someone special, and come wrapped in a reusable silk organza bag, complete with handwritten note on vintage paper. In addition, I would *love* to work with you to create a personalized, one-of-a-kind Soapwalla Tasting Menu gift bag - these are my favorite kinds of projects! Convo me and we will work something out.

I've always had a creative streak, and have been fascinated with the healing properties of plants and foods my entire life, so it was no surprise when office life didn't work out well and I dedicated myself 100% to the experimentation and creation of Soapwalla's products.

When I'm not in the kitchen making cosmetic culinary delights, you'll find me playing violin, composing original works, hanging upside down on a trapeze, or practicing ashtanga yoga.
