I have never been very good at strictly visual art. The tactile nature of sculpting has always been at the core of everything I have created with any degree of success. My fingers first fell in love with the earthen feel of porcelain and stoneware clays when I was in the seventh grade and for many years thereafter I couldn't imagine working with any other medium. Of course, since then, life has called me in many directions and offered me opportunities to try my hand with many mediums. Still, there remained a constant craving in my fingers for that earthen feel. Less than a decade ago I found myself standing in the attic of a wholesale bead importer with both hands full of silver and gemstones... and... there it was!

In crafting items to be worn by others I believe it is important to be mindful of how the energy that goes into each piece will ultimately affect the wearer. For me that includes many things, from starting with sterling silver wire that comes from recycled sources to focusing my full attention on each step of the creative process. I do my very best to maintain that mindfulness. When I am distracted or lose focus my work lets me know. I will probably never have a shop filled with hundreds and hundreds of items and I hold little hope for becoming a fully accomplished metalsmith at this point in my life. What I do hope is that when my work is worn it will bring the wearer some sense of the love that went into its creation. .
