When I started Vintage Covers in July 2010, I did so out of sheer curiosity and a few supportive comments from enthusiastic colleagues.

It all began with the purchase of a Kobo eReader last spring. I packed it everywhere, and started looking at covers but didn’t see anything that really caught my interest.
Because I have been an artist for over 30 yrs and I truly enjoy creating items that are unique, personalized, unusual and eclectic, I decided to direct some artistic energy towards creating a custom cover for it with one of my favourite Spiderman comics.

Pleased with the results, I took it to work in order to showcase my handiwork to colleagues. One individual was so enthused with the final product that he asked if I could change my original idea slightly in order to facilitate making a cover suitable for an iPad. With some finessing and a couple of trials, we came up with the cover that I feature on my Etsy site.

Several months later, I have quite a few options to choose from. Using traditional bookbinding methods, I create covers for all the Kindles, the Nook, the Kobo, all the Sony's, the iPad, and any others as long as I can get the measurements. Along with the new binding materials, I use vintage comic books, antique books, children’s story books – the list is endless.

And so, Vintage Covers was born.

Because I work full time as a second level computer support technician, I work on the covers in the evenings and on weekends; I spend the rest of my time-off scouring flea markets, second hand stores and garage sales to find the “perfect book”. Having found quite a few, I currently have a vast collection of vintage comics and vintage and antique books customers can choose from. If I don’t have what you’re looking for though, I can accommodate special requests with books supplied by you, the customer.
