Michelle Bollman's Profile

About

Wabi-Sabi Studios is the work of Michelle and Jeremy Bollman. We met in Japan where Michelle was born and have been influenced by our time there and the heritage of our family. Together with our three girls we strive to make work that is useful, inspiring, fun, safe, green and beautiful. We believe our quality of life is greatly enhanced by handmade goods and the relationship to the people who made them.

Wabi-Sabi is an aesthetic unique to Japan. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete". Characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetry, asperity, simplicity, modesty, intimacy, and the suggestion of natural processes.
