Waverley Kitchens is a family-run business. It was inspired by the three kids (Neha, Varun, Devana) going to college and not knowing how to cook meals. After growing up on an Indian diet, pasta wasn't going to cut it for the whole week. Thus, our parents created these beautifully simple packets to make our lives easier, but also healthier. After graduating college, I, Devana, decided to take over. My mission is to educate people that cooking healthy Indian food isn't impossible! Our products set you up with the basics to ensure that you cook an authentic and tasty meal every time!
MEET THE FAMILY:
Rashmi Bhargava: Spice Guru
I grew up as part of a large family in Lucknow, India and this gave me the opportunity to learn the basics of cooking from my grandmother and mother, who were both excellent cooks. As a young adult, except for exam time, I would take turns with my sisters to cook for the family. In the midst of fun criticism by my brothers,I developed my own style of cooking. After moving to the US I learned further more from my mother-in-law. When first came to the US there were very few Indian restaurants and for any special food it was best to make it yourself. My family has always loved the food I prepared for them - Raj calls it "heavenly food!" I hope you can enjoy just as much from the spice blends and recipes I have made for WK Packets.
Devana Bhargava: Product Guru
As the youngest member of the Waverley Kitchens family, I love cooking but not without my measuring spoons! I like to follow recipes step by step and freak out if something is off! WK Packets were the perfect solution for me when I studied abroad in London and had to cook for myself for the first time. I knew pasta was my go-to meal because it's fast and easy, but I knew I needed more nutritious and flavorful food. To my surprise, I was good at cooking Indian food, given that I followed each step :D.
Raj Bhargava: Innovation Guru
I am a big fan of incredibly tasty food made by Rashmi. I enjoy cooking too but always need Rashmi's guidance to make the food tasty! For years I have tried to figure out how to make cooking easy for me. Then as our kids moved away from home, they had the same challenge, and the credit card bills started to get longer with restaurant names! With WK Packets, for the first time I felt confident that I could cook well. It was also exciting to watch the kids inviting their friends and cooking together with WK Pacs. I also enjoy technology. Now I want to share this joy of good cooking and cool website with everyone.
Neha Bhargava: Marketing Guru
In the family, I'm the lazy one that won't cook but will eat it all! However, having lived away from home for a while now, I do actually cook in my New York City apartment, contrary to popular belief! Yet, I still couldn't get myself to cook Indian food - I mean, how was it ever going to taste as good as when my mom and grandmother cooked! And believe it or not, I cook Indian food all the time now and it tastes delicious! I hope you enjoy the WK spice blends as much as I do.
Varun Bhargava: Operations and Design Guru
I am the definition of a food lover. The power of food to bring people together has always amazed me. Ever since childhood I have enjoyed experimenting with food to create new and exciting dishes. Although I am a Mechanical Engineer by training you can find me frequently cooking for my family. I am excited to be able to share my enthusiasm for cooking with everyone so that they too can enjoy the experience as much as I do. Along with my interest in food, I enjoy taking photographs.
