About

I'm a stay-at-home mom to two teens with Asperger's Syndrome and other issues. I've lost a lot of my self as I devoted all my time caring for them. It's paid off, and they are in good school programs. It's time for me to be creative again, enjoy what I'm doing, share my sense of fun with the world, and maybe make a little cash on the side. I have been crocheting since I was 7 years old, and knitting since I was 8.

My Etsy shop is Whimsy Needles. I make colorful and fun bath and kitchen items, embellished mesh reusable shopping bags, gift bags scarves and more. I believe "going green" doesn't have to be boring or hard, and my creations reflect that.

I use rescued, recycled and/or renewable materials as much as possible. I augment my new yarns with "rescued" yarns. With this form of reclaiming, I save clean, like-new yarn from thrift stores, garage sales, destash lots and other sources. I give it a home, a purpose, and keep it out of landfills. (Don't worry, I give everything a gentle wash to make sure it's dust free. If yarn is of cheap quality, ratty, smells weird, or is dirty, I don't buy or use it.) Please see individual item descriptions to see how much rescued yarn they contain. It will vary depending on my supply.
