I named my business Wind Rose Fiber Studio because being creative is how I find myself and how I make my way. I like the idea of the wind rose because it was used by ancient mariners and my father was one at heart. He loved the water and spent his life designing and building wooden boats. Growing up around his great singular passion, gave me the desire to search for my own.
I love everything about working with fiber. I tend to hop around from one aspect to another. One month I may be sitting at the spinning wheel almost everyday and then the next I'll be obsessed with felting or weaving. I also spend a lot of time dyeing fiber. Designing shades and even just providing basic colors for other spinners and felters is very gratifying. It's the amazing versatility of wool and other fibers that keeps it fresh and stimulating...
