I am a twenty-something creative living in Michigan. I work full-time in an advertising agency and make pillows by night. Creative iterations inspire me - Words, books, patterned prints, and bright colors spark my creativity.
Zula May is named after my grandmother and three generations of inspiring women. Zula grew up during the Great Depression and sewed her own clothes. As an adult, she continued her handiwork for her family. One year, her daughter attended a dance where many girls were dressed in famous designer gowns. A girl approached my aunt, and meaning to be snide, said, "And where did you buy your dress?" My aunt replied, "From my personal designer, Zula!" The girl was shocked and left my aunt alone the rest of the evening.
