Rainsend's Profile
Bio
I have been painting and drawing since I was a child and love creating beautiful things. My backyard chickens have provided quite an inspiration for my little pottery chickens that I make by hand. I love exploring all the shapes and colors that I can paint these little chickens.
I find that natural materials like wool are so enjoyable to work with. I have such fun sculpting by needle felting wool. I love how my little creations take shape under my fingers as I poke with my felting needle (hopefully avoiding my fingers!) It's a little magical how it happens -- though a slow process.
Birds have always been one of my favorite animals. Growing up we spent hours watching the bird feeder tied under the old hemlock tree for our own special bird. I was the Cardinal, my sister the Robin, and my younger sister the Chickadee -- all chosen based on our own names. Later we had parrots, finches, parakeets and finally in my own backyard chickens and ducks.
So naturally many of my little creations tend to be bird inspired. My little wedding birds began when I had a request from a bride to make a pair of birds with top hat and veil for her upcoming wedding. Little did she know what path that would send me down. My love of birds and weddings combined into these cute little creations. It has been such a fun experience too, working with people at such a fun time in their lives to create these little birds.
I love to work with so many different materials so you will see quite a bit of variety in my shop. I paint, make cement sculptures and leaves, sew fabric chickens and birds, and love working with clay and glazes. The variety keeps me inspired and thinking of new creations too!

Shipping Policies:
For more expensive orders or combined orders I ship with delivery confirmation and insurance. But I recommend signature confirmation on the wedding birds because they are so difficult to replace if they are lost.
Please note that international customers are responsible for all fees, taxes, and duties associated with shipping to their respective countries since I have no idea what these might be.
