Bio

Hi, my name is Tamra Kohl. I am a commercial sculptor by trade. I have worked in the display industry in Los Angeles for the last 25 years. First as a professional mannequin "make-up" artist, (It's really oil paint),
then as a sculptor. As a commercial sculptor, I have been commissioned to sculpt everything from giant cartoon characters to mannequins to tiny display props.
I love sculpting the big stuff, but my move a couple of years ago to the Austin, Texas area, where the demand for commercial sculptors is not what it is in L.A., has encouraged me to try something different.
I am interested in all different styles of art, but, in particular, Mexican folk art.
I began working with polymer clay around 10 years ago, and it is a such a great medium. I started sculpting Day of the Dead themed skeleton sculptures and jewelry about 4 years ago, and I'm having a great time with it!
