Bio

I have a love for everything feminine, romantic, and Victorian. When I was a child, my grandmother sat me down with a ball of crochet cotton and a hook, and began her instruction by having me make one long chain. She also taught me to sew, embroider, and do fine needlework. Her lessons have served me well.

I usually use two to three different complementary designs to create a single garter. The hours I spend making them include choosing the designs that will blend well and deciding on the right embellishments for the finished product. Every item I produce involves many hours of work; I take no shortcuts and use nothing more than a ball of thread and a hook. (Oh, and a sewing machine if something calls for it.)

I have recently expanded my creativity into making jewelry, the type of vintage styling that I look for when I'm shopping for new items for myself.

I have crocheted edgings and embellishments for bed and bath linens, and handmade camisoles. I've made doilies and table linens galore. I own a collection of teapots and teacups, and my good china is Royal Doulton's Old Country Roses. My most treasured of all is a 100-year-old silver tea service a friend offered me before she let it go to Goodwill. I love 1928 jewelry and creamy pearls. Friends call me a hearts and flowers girl, and I'd say that's true. Time permitting (not often these days), I work on a miniature (1=12) Victorian house, which I hope to finish sometime during this century.

When I'm not crocheting or crafting I am a writer, with 11 historical romances and assorted articles published over the last 13 years.
