Hello all! I'm here on Okinawa, Japan. My husband is Airforce and we moved here 2004. I've gone shopping throughout the island and I want everything I see. The people here are so nice and sweet, crime is almost non-existent. It's an experience we will never forget. ~I don't read japanese, I speak even less, I'm learning, got my numbers down this week, next week my days of the week. Ha! I do know how to crochet and knit and I know how to sew and quilt. :) So crafts are my forte. Japanese books do present a challenge that I more than welcome, I look forward to. Most aren't much of a challenge, but some are, really depends on the publisher. I can tell you that the Kanji in most of the crochet books I've found contains mostly common knowledge info. Once you go Japanese patterns it's hard to go back. I teach Crocheting here on base and I'm one to tell you I use the japanese books on my own but to the ladies I teach them to use the american patterns cause I want them to learn to read patterns first before going to the japanese ones, and it's a chore for me to switch over, same with my hooks, I love my japanese hooks so much more than my american ones. :) I think I'm staying here for life. :) I just love it so!
