Thanks for checking out my Etsy shop! I live in Edmond, OK and I am a mixed media artist, ceramist and graphic designer. I work in several mediums, including paper collage, clay, textiles, and paint. I am mostly self-taught and I enjoy forging my own techniques. I love creating something every day.

My ceramic items are crafted and hand-built from either white or red earthenware clay. I then fire all pieces to bisque in my Paragon electric kiln, and then fire them a second time after they are glazed. I use under-glazes and glazes to finish all of my pieces. Everything is food safe, non-toxic, and lead-free. I have three kids, their various friends, and two dogs intermittently running though my studio, so safety is my first concern. To keep your ceramic pieces in excellent condition, handwash them, never put them in the microwave, and don't stick them in the freezer.

Just so you know, I put my plates in the dishwasher occasionally when I have fed a large crowd. I don't let them heat dry in there, though. I haven't had any problems, but you do run the risk of "crackling" the glaze. This happens with a sudden. extreme temperature change (hence the no oven/freezer rule!). Cracks in the glaze allow food particles and liquids to seep into the clay underneath. Microorganisms - eew - love to live there, so don't eat off of dishes that have lots of cracks in the glaze.

My do-dads, hearts, and tags are also glazed in a food-safe glazes. Everything is safe to handle and run your hands through. I know it sounds strange, but if you have a bowl full of hearts and flowers, you will run your hands through them. It's wonderful!

My painted art pieces usually involve several layers that might include paper, paint, wax and crayons, and found objects. I usually finish a painting with varnish to protect each piece.
