Bio

I got a sewing machine for my 16th birthday. I cried for a week. My friends got cars and jewelry and parties. I put it in my closet for almost 20 years but now I use it everyday and make monkeys and other artsy fabric-ey things. I hate that my parents were always right! What I like to buy? I LOVE kitsch, unique items, things that are slightly warped or not the norm, whimsical and colorful things. Geeky and nerdy items. Things that are fun. I have a thing for robots that I can't explain.

My best friend, craft partner and biggest cheerleader passed away March 2007 after a 2 year battle with cancer. My mom was the best human on the planet and it's taken me awhile to recover but slowly getting back to sewing and creating.

I am a single mom of a nutty boy. He's so much like his mom :O) I work full time - mostly for health insurance- if I could get it any other way I would be home with him!

Some information about my Sock Monkeys

I only use brand new socks and am on what seems a never ending quest to find cool socks. If you have cool knee or crew socks and want me to make them into a monkey let's chat!

I machine sew the body and the other work is done by hand.

I can change out the eyes for you. While the monkeys are cute and squishy they are not for small children. And never put stuffed critters in the crib! I offer floss of felt eyes if you like but still use caution when giving a handmade toy to a child!

They are stuffed with polyfil- I recently changed brands and find the new one to be much softer and squishier.

I love special orders but around the holidays can't handle very detailed requests. I cannot sew clothing for the monkeys. I can sew monkeys but not clothes. Go figure. Most Build a Bear type clothes fit my monkeys pretty good.

The variation in prices is usually due to the initial sock cost.
