FeltFusionAustralia's Profile

Bio

The thing I love most about felting is its contradiction, light yet incredibly strong, thick, robust, hard wearing and versatile. It is also fire retardant, water repellant and very warm. I use tradition felt making practices with a modern twist but not much has changed since around 600BC when the world was introduced to the man's first unwoven fabric. The felting process can take hours to complete when making large pieces and is very physical. No two pieces are the same. Teaching others to felt is a joy and the reactions I get from people who have turned a bunch of fuzz into useable felt is priceless. Children love the squishy, soapy part but everyone enjoys it.
