A while ago I realized that plastic shopping bags are one of the worst offenders in terms of global climate change. Simultaneously, some large grocery chains were offering cheap made-in-China canvas bags made of new material. After doing a bit of research, I learned that fabric is the second most prevalent item to be found in global landfills... after plastic bags. I put two and two together, looked at what was on the market, and decided that there was place in the world for a stylish shopping bag made of recycled material. This is how POSCH was born.

You might wonder: "What's that cute bird have to do with bags?". This bird is called the Piping Plover and he is on the list of endangered species in my province. As his fragile coastal ecosystem is greatly endangered by climate changes, he is the perfect poster animal for the first POSCH campaign. To further my "vertically aligned" philosophy, I have decided to donate 2% of net sales to Équiterre, a local NGO who helps us have a smaller ecological footprint.

A designer by training, I aim to better the world by conceiving everyday use objects that are a viable, creative and affordable alternative to environmentally toxic offerings. This is why I went freelance a few years ago, founding Article Studio to be a part of the eco-design revolution. These bags are only the beginning!
