It all started out innocently. Mom taught me to sew when i was a kid. Then over the years crafting became a favorite past time....glue, thread and needles, sparkly things, yarn - oh yarn......
Everybody around me was learing to knit a few years ago so i jumped on that bandwagon. Little did i know that i would soon beome obessed with that magicall stringy stuff that came in all those colors and textures. It was so soft and pretty! How could you not fall in love? So there i was neck deep in unfinished knitting projects and all my friends and family had been gifted my proudest achivements when i saw a little blurb on a knitting show about "drop spindles". Hmmm... you mean i could make my own yarn?! Wow! i have to try that! So a visit to Ebay and a few dollars invested gave me a stick with a disc attached, a little hook on the end and a ball of fluff. This was going to make yarn?! Pffft....ok, i'll give it a shot. Wow! Spinning on a drop spindle was like turing a light on inside me. The fluid movement, the product that progressed just from spinning this streached out fluff. Yarn - i had made yarn!
Months went by and i took a dying class at a local shop with a group of frineds and fellow knitters. Dying yarn was like this slap-dash process that resulted in pure magic. A random plcaement of colors that blended into ther colors and when knit up produced a unique pattern on your fabric. I was hooked. Then it dawned on me...i could dye roving (the fluff) and spin that into yarn that nobody could ever reproduce. Handpainted roving spins into beautiful variarions of the dyed colors and it's always a surprise what the final product will look like.
The natural progression of my interest resulted in the purchase of a spinning wheel. Faster result and smoother yarn was at my fingertips!
And so here i am, constantly searching to create the perfect yarn. I dye all the rovings and spin all the yarn you will find here.
The names of the yarns are all song titles by vairous artists. I look at the yarn and whatever song pops into my head that becomes the name of it.
Being a stay at home mom, i have childresn songs in my head all the time so don't be shocked to see one of my yarns named after a Wiggles song ;) Yep, stay at home mom. I'm happily married (to a very tollerant husband who comment on my fiber stash regularly but understands that it's what keeps me from going all the way crazy) and coming up on our 6th wedding anniversary in July 2006.
If there are any questions about any of my products or just want to make a comment i welcome all communication :) I, unlike many of the people in this big world of ours, actually like people.
