Bio

Hello everyone and greetings from Catland!

* I am a self representing and self taught full time artist and crafter. I specialize in fun and fabulous feline art, such as cat paintings, handmade catnip toys, and other cat themed crafts such as bookmarks, pendant necklaces, magnets, and more!

* Aside from my cat art, I also paint people portraits, create collage art, sachets, decorative wooden boxes and cigar box purses. Some of which I list here at my shop. And while I do not do custom cat paintings, I do paint as many types of cats that appeal to many cat lovers and owners, and I'm also open to any suggestions you have for cat paintings that you'd like to see!

* I am a proud member of two street teams here, "Etsy For Animals" and "Vegan Etsy". I love helping animals through my artwork, it's such a rewarding feeling for me!

* I enjoy a variety of artistic styles, such as pop art, art nouveau, art deco, mexican folk art, and especially victorian/edwardian art. I love art that is eye catching colorful and festive, as well as classic and sophisticated vintage styles. I'm inspired by the 1920's and 30's, old hollywood, music I listen to, and my favorite artist, Louis Wain. I sometimes incorporate these influences into my work, but I definitely have a distinctive style all my own!

* My art has been shown in Chicago galleries and libraries. I also sell prints of my cat paintings and my handmade catnip toys at "Wigglyville", a wonderful, fun and very unique pet boutique in Chicago.

* In addition, I design cat artwork for "Harmony House", a cageless no-kill cat shelter in Chicago. My work helps promote their special events, such as their Halloween Boo-tiques, Valentines Day Open House, their annual Walkathons and more. My art for Harmony House has been used for their newsletters, brochures, website, and T-shirts. Visit them at: hhforcats.org

* When I'm not painting or crafting, I enjoy spending time with my 19 year old cat Abbey, friends and family, going to art and historical museums, conservatories and libraries. I also enjoy hula hooping, photography, reading, going to concerts and clubs, and watching silent and early talkie films.

* I'm 37 years old and have been an artist since I was a child. So I feel art has always been in my blood and comes natural to me, but I also find it to be challenging in a positive way and I enjoy exploring new styles, techniques, and various ways to express myself. Creating art feels like an energetic, yet peaceful stiring of my soul, and I hope you enjoy my work, as much as I do creating it!
