Artist Statement

I have formally studied Art and Photography for 8 years but my full journey has been much longer than that. The greatest leaps in my ability have always come when I studied independently. I work with a few different mediums but pencil work is always like coming home. I am passionate about the detail that goes into my work. I am specifically interested in the details of the face, as used in portraiture, the subtle, almost minuscule differences, that tell us from one another. I am inspired by the beauty that comes in so many different shapes and sizes. I welcome every opportunity to challenge myself and enjoy exploring new subjects. I have a particular fondness for nature in my work as well as the fantastical. Cats, Angels, and possibly Angelic Cats, are a trend in my current work, but that is subject to frequent change.
