Bio
I am a self-taught professional painter who works mostly in pastels. I have been part of the Painting A Day (or daily painters) movement since September of 2006.
I was born in The Netherlands, raised in New York and presently live in rural Massachusetts. My work can be found in private collections throughout the United States.
Buying a painting can be quite an investment considering the commission that many galleries add to the price of a painting. Commissions can range anywhere from 20 to 60% forcing the artist to raise her price. Avoiding the middle man benefits both the artist and buyer.
About pastels:
Pastel is pure pigment-the same pigment used in making all fine art paints. It is the most permanent of all media when applied to a permanent ground and properly framed. There is no oil to cause darkening or cracking, nor other substance or medium to cause fading or blistering. Pastels from the 16th Century exist today, as fresh and alive as the day they were painted!
