One of my oldest and most cherished memories is from when I was in preschool ( very early 80's) There was a woman who would come on occasion to read us books from her "magical" bag! I can't picture her face but she was large and round and had a giant mane of red curls that floated around her head. This bag...it was woven in a colorful,textured tapestry of bright colors and spectacular shapes and curves and spirals. Each child was given a turn to trace their finger upon the lines of her magical book bag. I remeber this vividly....more than the stories she read. I guess that was the beginning of my creative journey...it was burned so deeply into my psyche. Being a mama myself, I hope to expose my child to the same kind of creative magic that I was so fortunate to have in my early childhood.

I strive to make wearable art ( most often in the form of "magical" purses, totes and bags, fun reconstructed clothing and wearable art) that reflect that same kind of mysterious fun energy that I hold in my memory. Fun is what it's all about.....I can't help throwing in a bit of humor as well...it just wouldn't be made by themoonismymother if it wasn't a little on the kooky side. Almost all of my creations are made with rescued or recycled materials.....I could never turn away a nice scrap of fabric! Plus I'm a thriftstore/garage sale junkie!!! I love vintage ANYTHING...but mostly fabric and clothing. From time to time you'll see some of my vintage finds listed in my shop too....so stay tuned!
