Old School Handwovens and Fossil Creek Fibers, is the homestead business of Kathryn McMahon of New York.

With a pioneer spirit, Kathryn taught herself to weave and spin using 18th and 19th century spinning wheels and looms.

In 2006, Kathryn received a grant to spend a year at the Southampton Historic Museum in Southampton NY, restoring an 18th century barn frame loom, cleaning,documenting and photographing 18th and 19th century coverlets and identifying, documenting and dispersing the collection of spinning wheels and related tools.

Kathryn's interest is in weaving rag rugs, coverlets from her own handspun wool,cotton/linen and Scottish tartan scarves and blankets based on specific Clan tartans.

Inspired by the simplicity, beauty and practicality of early home weavers, Kathryn aspires to keep alive both the knowledge of the looms and spinning wheels as well as the traditional weaving and spinning skills.

SALES TAX
We cannot overlook the 8% sales tax I am obliged to collect on all items EXCEPT raw fleeces.
It is my current understanding that I only collect sales tax on things sold in NY state. Please be aware of this additional charge when you purchase.

PAYMENT
I accept Pay Pal, personal checks and money orders. Money orders are preferred.
I believe in people therefore ship the item when your check is received.

SHIPPING
I make every effort to ship USPS, flat rate when possible.
$4.95 for most items.
Larger Items will obviously require larger packages - usually shipping is listed with the item. In cases where the shipping needs to be calculatd you'll have an exact amount before the item is sold.

I accept returns in the same shape as I sent them, within 7 days.
I do not refund money but will allow for a store exchange.
