Welcome to Karen's Soap Co., LLC!

Come follow me on twitter: http://twitter.com/karenssoaps

I've been handcrafting soap for over seven years. It has become a passion for me.

I am a proud member of the Triangle Area North Carolina Street Team, and of the Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild! To find handmade items from my fellow street team members, just type "nctriangle team" and search Handmade Items: tags, titles. You will find so many wonderful items.

I love using great soaps, so I started making them for myself and friends. My friends love them as much as I do, so off I went to sell them at the local holiday craft shows. They sold out at every show I attended, and many people asked where they could get them year round. So, I created an Etsy Shop. I know that you will enjoy my soaps too!

There is no greater compliment than a repeat customer. Here is what one regular customer had to say:
"Karen’s soaps are wonderful!! I discovered these delightful soaps in November and now I’m hooked. The fragrances are absolutely wonderful and the lather they produce is unbelievable. No other soap will do for me!! Karen is great to work with so I would highly recommend you try her soaps – you’ll be glad you did." -Susan

I often stock my shop with seasonal scents, or whatever I make on a whim. If you have purchased something in the past, or see something in my sold items that you are interested in, please let me know.

My handmade soaps are glycerin based. All of my soap bases are moisturizing, hypo-allergenic and full of lather. The ingredients listed in the soap description are the ingredients in the soap base. I do not have access to the ingredients in the fragrance oils. Quality is always the number one priority, and I know that you will not be disappointed!

If you are purchasing a gift, I can mail it directly to the recipient. If you would like, I will include a note with the gift. Just let me know what you would like it to say.

If you would prefer I not leave feedback, for any reason, just let me know.

*****Benefits of Handmade Glycerin Soap*****
Glycerin soap is especially good for sensitive and delicate skin, and for children. When soap is made by hand, the naturally occurring ingredient glycerin is left completely in the bar of soap. None of it is removed as in other styles of soaps. In most commercial soaps, the glycerin must be removed or the soap would be too soft. More glycerin may be added later, but never at the original level of the soap making process.

There is so much evidence of the healing properties of a handmade bar of soap. Those who suffer from skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, as well as people that have sensitive skin or are hypoallergenic often find immediate relief by switching to handmade soap. Compared to store bought soap, handmade soap is very mild.

*****Caring for your Soap*****
My soaps usually stay 'good' for years. However, time does affect the intensity of a soap's fragrance. For maximum fragrance, I recommend that you enjoy your soaps within six months of purchase. While in storage, keep them wrapped in the original packaging or a zip lock bag. Protect them from humidity and extremes of heat and cold.

Your handmade soaps will last longer if you take care of them. It is best to let your soap dry completely between uses, by putting your soap on some kind of a soap dish that allows air to circulate around the bar. If you store your soap in the ribbed dish built into most shower stalls, the shower spray will continually soak your soap and it won't last as long.

A bar of my 4oz soap lasts between 3-4 weeks. This is based on normal use. If you're loving your soap so much that you are lathering up five times a day, a bar isn't going to last that long!

*****Important Facts about my Soap*****
All of my soaps are made from vegetable glycerin soap bases. I have many varieties of glycerin soap. All are gentle to your skin, hypoallergenic, and lather well.

I include a list of my soap base ingredients on the packaging of each of my soaps. The only exception is the fish in a bag soap.

I use both fragrance and essential oils in my soaps. Essential oils are highly concentrated oils extracted from various parts of aromatic plants, flowers and trees. Pregnant and nursing women should use caution with essential oils, because their skin and bodies are more sensitive and some oils may cause adverse reactions. I recommend not using products with essential oils if you are pregnant or nursing.

If you are allergic to fragrance, I would be happy to make you any soap I have in an unscented version. I have moisturizing, goat milk, honey, oatmeal, olive oil, yogurt, organic, soy, and aloe bases. You may detect a slight scent (but it's a good one) in some of my unscented soaps due to the natural ingredients used, especially unscented goat milk, honey, soy, and organic soap. If you purchase both unscented and scented soaps in a single order, each soap is wrapped separately. Your unscented soap will not absorb scent from other soaps while being shipped.
