I'm happily self-employed, combining a number of interests (knitting, lifeguarding, hooping) to create work for myself.

My mother and I don't remember when I first learned to knit, but I began my serious fascinating with yarn and design when I was in college, studying American Sign Language and Deaf Culture - I'd knit through my lecture classes, and eventually developed a serious overuse injury in my wrists!

I have been teaching knitting classes using my patterns for the past few years, but in October 2006 I launched Christa Knits and began to produce a line of clear, easy-to-follow patterns to be sold in the local yarn shops. December 2006 saw (heard?) the first episode of the Christa Knits podcast, and led me to a decision to sell online. Etsy is a glorious, wonderful site (I'm a frequent buyer!) and I'm happy to support this company with my business.
