Bio

My name is Patricia Yoder. In 1994 my friend, Margie Romano and I opened Clay Escapes Pottery. After purchasing a kiln from a relative to take it off her hands we decided it would be fun to take some pottery classes. We signed up at the local community college and we were both hooked immediately. We set up our studio in a second story warehouse space with no heat, air conditioning or hot water. It was difficult sometimes to carry those 50 lb. boxes of clay upstairs in 90 degree heat or fill up our kerosene heater, but we loved it. Seven years later we were able to move downstairs to the luxury of heat and air conditioning and no stairs. We participate in shows and are members of a Ceramic Designers Association where we are fortunate to have many workshops and seminars by well known potters as well as our own members. Three years ago we signed on with Campbell's Clay in Richmond, VA as distributors.
