About Infinite Creature Designs

Who Am I?

I was born in Houston, TX. I grew up in Oregon after moving here at the age of 5. While attending the Natural Resource Sciences and Technology Magnet High School in Beaverton, I developed a fascination with the natural world, and scientific exploration, as well as honing my technological skills. Afterward, I surprised all my friends by deciding to go to art school! I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fibers from the Maryland Institute College of Art, in Baltimore in 2005. I now live in Portland, where I make a meager living selling my art at the Portland Saturday Market and on-line, as well as part-time contracting in web design and consulting.

Infinite Creature Designs is the public face of the art of Sara McCormick. I coined the phrase while trying to come up with something that would convey both what my work was ultimately about, AND who I am as an artist. I see my work, not as art objects per-say, but as living, evolving, representations of a world that is infinitely complex yet, at times, seemingly so simple.

My studio is clean and smoke free, though I do have cats! I do all my own printing and assembly, using high quality inkjet photo paper and acid-free mats. : )
