SilkyPrudence's Profile

Bio

I was taught to knit by my Grandma when I was 5 years old. I remember sitting on her knee as she held my hands and guided the wool round the needles and together we made very wonky dishcloths.

I’ve always made gifts for friends and family which, in turn, developed into custom jobs for their friends and families. Eventually some bright spark suggested I try and make it all proper-like and set up a little shop and lo, Silky Prudence was born.

In my shop you’ll find luxurious mohair and silk shawls; funky neck warmers in the softest wool; cute little summer capelets in the season’s favourite colours and beribboned cuffs and corsages adorned with sequins and jewels. My pieces reflect my love of bohemian glamour with a lot of my work being influenced by the elegance of the 1940’s and 50’s.

I work with both new and vintage yarns and am a bit of a magpie so anything with a bit of sparkle makes me come over all warm and tingly.

My philosophy is I only ever make what I would want to wear myself so you can be sure that every piece I sell has been made with love.

Please note that I do share my home with two moggies and while every care is taken to keep my materials and finished products away from them, I am aware that some people suffer from allergies - PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND.
