Allison Trentelman is a nature and landscape photographer based in midcoast Maine. Allison’s nature prints focus on the beauty, magic, and mystery of the natural landscape and animals of Maine. Allison moved to Maine in 2001 to attend the Maine Photographic Workshops photography residency program, but she fell in love with the landscape and lifestyle in Maine and has never been able to leave. Her photography business, Rocky Top Studio, is named for the rocky mountaintop covered in blueberry bushes where she lives and works. The beautiful, wild landscape that surrounds her is a constant inspiration, and she enjoys living in a place where she can see the Milky Way on any clear night.

The seasons in Maine are severe and ever-changing and it’s impossible to go against nature’s cycles. Working so closely with the flow of the seasons has changed the pace of her life, and her photos reflect the peace and calm that she has found in the quiet and beautiful state of Maine. Allison is a believer that there’s something magical in this northern state where life is “the way it should be” and she has spent the last 8 years trying to capture that something in photographs.

Allison lives a quiet and peaceful life in the country with her partner Tony and their menagerie of animals. They are continually building a more self-sufficient life for themselves and are often found busy in the gardens. Allison’s photography is influenced by their natural lifestyle more and more each year. She grows many of her own flowers from seed for her projects.
