There has never been a question for me about what I'm meant to do in life. Even as an eight-year-old there was a strong pull to create, and it always ended up being jewelry. I vividly remember finding a small diamond shaped piece of fluorescent pink plastic in the sand under the swings at school. I thought, "if only I could cut this in half and put some holes at the corners, I could make earrings out of this!" My Dad helped with the cutting and the holes, but I did make that pink plastic into earrings.

I began studying jewelry making, metals, and gemstones as a teenager using books, magazines, and trial and error. Later on, I found myself at Rhode Island School of Design in the Jewelry and Metalsmithing department of which I graduated in 2001. Since then, I've taken a few classes in a range of jewelry related subjects at the local craft center. I aspire to have my own crafts teaching/boutique/gallery someday...soon!

My jewelry inspiration has always been about the small, the hidden, sensual lines, and the shadow in the negative space...the tiny goodies in the crevices of life. I'm not always consciously aware that I'm pulling from those places, but they always make their appearance in my work.
As each piece of jewelry I make starts to take form, there is a point where I get an overwhelming sense of joy that forms with it. I've now come to realize that this feeling is because I'm putting into metal, and materializing, the wish of somebody out there. All they need to do is brush aside some sand and find it.
