I make all manner of things. I like the geometry of gears and the way steel rusts. For the most part I design lighting and furniture, but I also fabricate accessory items out of re-purposed parts. You can find good things in warehouse districts and vacant lots. Transmissions, old car parts, wood, miscellaneous junk, etc.
