ecologicalartist's Profile
Bio
I was born and raised in a beautiful county that is now more than 2/3 open space. I walk the trails, go to the beach, and gather wild materials as the foundation for my art.
I've always been a collector, and a gatherer since I was a little girl. I love shells, rocks, bones, beach glass, and native plants.
Everything I make is naturally dyed from materials that I gather, or from a fair trade project from one of the many countries that I or friends, have visited.
I love using wool from Mimi's farm in the Chileno Valley, and dying it with toyon, coastal sage, or coyote brush. There are so many color options just from the native plants of my home.
I love bringing awareness to people about these plants, and the need to restore the land in our county with them. So much topsoil, water, and mineral content has left our wild lands, simply due to misunderstandings about the true nature of the land.
Since I was small, I have always wanted to naturalize every setting, this passion continues, as I lead school children in ecological restorations, and teach them how to use the plants in a sustainable way.
My art is an expression of my love for the earth, and my desire to restore it to health.
